What damages can this cause you!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Poor Posture!<\/span><br \/>\nNot only are we sitting all day, but most of us are hunched over at our desks set in a position that isn\u2019t doing us any good. Backaches, tight hips &amp; sore necks are frequent in the workplace, but we can change this! With a few simple adjustments, you can ensure that you are seated correctly and pain free. Tip: Make sure your back is straight &amp; the lower part is supported by your chair. Your computer screen should be at eye level to prevent any slouching. Feet should be flat on the floor and legs and arms comfortably resting at 90 degrees.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Your prone to more injures!<\/span><br \/>\nSitting on our rears all day is deactivating our gluteal muscles. The less active our glutes, the tighter other muscle groups get! Mostly areas in our hips, hamstrings &amp; quads become weaker which can cause more pain we feel in our lower back, knees, neck &amp; shoulders. Tip: Get up out of your office chair every hour! Do some chair exercises targeting the gluteal muscles such as tap squats or lunges across the office, get everyone involved!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Increased risk of disease<\/span><br \/>\nStudies have shown that a sedentary lifestyle can increase your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and even cancer. Your goal should be to increase movement in your everyday life, not just in the office. It is recommended we should do 150 minutes of weekly physical activity, this is broken down in to 30 minutes on five days every week. Become a \u201cmove more\u201d kind of person. Tip: Take a lap around the office, now!&#x1f60a;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">You burn less calories<\/span><br \/>\nYou burn 30% less calories when you are sitting versus when you are standing. How often do you yourself sitting at your desk mindlessly snacking while you work? Burning 30% less calories while sitting and then snacking on a high-calorie snack, without really being hungry, do not go hand in hand!
